Needs Assessment of PA EMS Providers

Description:

Ambulance services from across the Commonwealth have been selected to participate in a statewide study being conducted by Penn State University and funded by the Center for Rural Pennsylvania in cooperation with the Pennsylvania legislature (www.rural.palegislature.us). This study will investigate the financial viability and sustainability of rural ambulance services in Pennsylvania. As you are aware, all ambulance services through the Commonwealth are impacted by shrinking reimbursements and increased costs of operation. The goal of this study is to use the information gathered in a survey of ambulances services to report findings and make policy recommendations to key stakeholders, including the project sponsor, the Center for Rural PA, legislators, and EMS advocates. We hope that this leads to the advancement of all EMS organizations throughout the Commonwealth. The project is under the direction of Dr. Jill Schumann Rumberger, Assistant Professor, Penn State University-Harrisburg.
